The smile, the beauty, the chubby cheeks, the shinny little eyes... these are some of the qualities that are so attractive in a child that makes us just love them even more :) :)
Even Jesus loved children remember when He said, Let the little children come to me and do not sent them away, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these, (Luke17:16 ) It just shows how big His heart is with children.
But, Wait!!! What about us the grown ups, where do we belong? Do we have an inheritance? Isn't the kingdom of God ours also? Let's know why...
Jesus must have seen something in the children that wasn't in the grown ups, right? Children (as I found out) have very special characteristics which Jesus wants us to emulate.
1. Children are innocent.
Suppose I have a big bag that is full of money. I decide to leave it on a table in a room. Inside the room, there is a one year old child and an adult. When I come back, the bag is gone. Who among the two, Who do you think would be my suspect? The adult of course, Why? Because the child is very naive, the child does not know how to steal.
And that is the same way God expects us to be, not knowing sin, He wants us to have the innocence of a child without which we will not enter heaven.
2. Children have a teachable-spirit.
They know that they don't know thus they create room for correction, rebuke and learning.
Having this spirit helps one to grow even more in who they are and what they do, And these Jesus understood better.
3. Children grow very fast.
Imagine a child is born and five years pass without them growing an inch. What does this signify? It shows that there is a problem and yes, a big one.
When you compare the growth of a child to that of an adult, you will discover that the growth of a child is immense, they grow very fast. And just like a child Jesus wants us to grow in our spirituality.
You should not remain the same way as you were last year. Grow in serving God, Grow in your gifting and more so, Grow in the Knowledge of God.
4.Children live a worry free life.
I remember times when I would take a stroll with my little niece holding her by her hand. She would walk so happily, playfully sometimes she dint even check her steps well, why was this? Because she knew that I held her and I would never let go of her hand. she felt so safe and secure, she knew that I would never allow her to get hurt.
Just imagine the same way Jesus holds us by our hands and He desires that we remain calm, that we cast all our cares, anxieties and worries to Him, He desires that we trust Him because He is in control and will help us for He cares for us.
5 Children are Truthful.
If you want to know the truth, ask a child who has just started talking and lower. These children don't know how to pretend or lie.When they are hungry they will show, when they want to sleep they will sleep when they are sad they wont fake it, they so truthful in what they want, know or feel.
The same way God desires us to be with Him, sincere, frank and very honest. God wants us to be open to Him, To surrender our thoughts, words and actions to Him because He knows us well, And for Him to to help us, we must admit we need help, we need utmost sincerity with Him.
And so Just like a child we should strive to be in order for us to grow, be more, do more, live more and most importantly inherit the Kingdom of God.
